I am proud to announce that Babycakes is finally able to fit into her cloth diapers! I knew I wanted to try cloth diapering before I even got pregnant so I started to build up my stash slowly but surely. I didn't want to have to buy many cloth diapers so I entered many, many, many cloth diaper giveaways. I didn't think I would win many because I'm not very lucky. I hardly ever win on scratch tickets, I don't win raffles and I'm always out money when I go to the casino. However, when it comes to winning cloth diapers it's a completely different story. I can't remember off the top of my head how many cloth diapers I won (because some are in the diaper pail and wash) but it's somewhere between 15 and 20. Some of the giveaways were for diaper packages of 2-3 diapers. As much as cloth diapers cost, I am so happy that a majority of my stash was free!
I was so disappointed when Babycakes couldn't fit into her cloth diapers when we brought her home. Some of the diapers I did buy were size 1 diapers and I had won some newborn diapers. I thought for sure that we would be able to cloth diaper at least part time until she fit into her one size diapers. Since Babycakes was only 6 pounds at birth, her diapers were too big at the waist and HUGE around her skinny little legs. We had to wait and wait and wait for her to chunk up a bit. Finally a few weeks ago she started fitting into her size ones and her newborns (Mini Maestro). However, the newborns only fit briefly because the waist got too tight.
At 9lb. 10oz., Babycakes is able to fit into most of her cloth diapers. Right now, she is able to wear her Thirsties AIO's, Bumgenius Freetime, Bumgenius 4.0, GoGreen Pocket Diaper, Softbums, Little Bee Co., PJ's Monkey Butt, Eco-Pipo, Itti Bitti Tutto, and a few hand made ones that a friend of mine made. I'm still waiting on her to fit into her Econobum covers, 2 of her EcoPipo's, Lotus Bums, BebeGreens, MotherEase, Kawaii Baby and a handmade diaper from Etsy. So far, my favorite is the Itti Bitti Tutto because it fits her so well. It has super absorbent natural fiber inserts and even with the extra inserts in, it maintains a slim fit on my tiny baby girl. Some of the others look huge on her because they're one size and when they're on their smallest setting with the inserts in, she has the biggest fluffy bum I've ever seen. I can't wait until she fits into all of them!
I'm always looking to add to her stash because let's face it, cloth diapers are addicting! There are so many cute prints, colors and styles to choose from. I'm going to have to start a cloth diaper with list!
